من أجمل ما قيل في الصبر هو قول الشاعر الأندلسي ابن زيدون في رسالة له إلى ولادة بنت المستكفي: *عجبت لهذا الزمان وسيره، ولما يكون في الأيام من البلوى، وما يعرض للإنسان من الألم والأسى، فإن كان الرزق قد قسم والأجل قد كتب والعمل قد أمر به، فلما الحزن؟*

One of the most beautiful expressions about patience is the saying of the Andalusian poet Ibn Zaydun in a letter to Wallada Bint Al-Mustakfi: *I marvel at this era and its course, and what befalls in the days of adversity, and the pain and sorrow that a person encounters. If the provision has been divided, the term has been written, and the action has been ordered, then why the sorrow?*
